Senior iOS Software Engineer

As a Capital One Software Engineer, you'll work on everything from customer-facing web and mobile applications using cutting-edge open source frameworks, to highly-available RESTful services, to back-end Java based systems using the hottest techniques in Big Data. You'll bring solid experience in emerging and traditional technologies such as: node.js, Java, AngularJS, React, Python, REST, JSON, XML, Ruby, HTML / HTML5, CSS, NoSQL databases, relational databases, Hadoop, Chef, Maven, iOS, Android, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure to name a few.


  • Develop iOS client code solutions that deliver on Product Strategy and adheres to established engineering best practices, design guidelines and principles
  • Partner with Software Engineers, UX/UI, Quality Engineers, Product Owners/Analysts to deliver high performing quality customer experiences that are engaging, purposeful and powerful in their simplicity
  • Actively participate in all team agile ceremonies and contributing to ensure that all team commitments are delivered on time and of the highest quality
  • Be an active advocate of the iOS platform through both internal and external developer communities
  • Working to remain an active learner in all technologies related to iOS                                 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Influence and contribute to group discussions and incorporate feedback/communication from broader team
  • Mentor junior members of the team
  • Actively engage with developers outside of the local sprint team across various disciplines (iOS, Android, APIs, Web, etc.)
  • Identify opportunities to drive and contribute beyond team commitments

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years experience in software development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree
  • 1+ years experience with Xcode Tooling
  • Demonstrated investment in iOS development knowledge growth through self-study, side projects and/or school/work experience
  • 1+ years experience with iOS 8 or higher
  • 1+ years experience with DVCS (Git, Mercurial)
  • 1+ years experience with Agile delivery practices
  • 1+ years experience core iOS constructs
  • 1+ years experience iOS unit testing framework                        
  • 3+ years professional coding experience
  • 1+ years experience with Swift / Objective-C
  • 1+ years experience driving direction, driving consensus and delivering small to medium sized/complexity components independently
  • Demonstratable profciency in detecting and abstracting common patterns in code
  • Demonstrable proficiency in 2-3 iOS SDK components
  • 1+ years experience with multiple form factors (iPhone, iPad, Watch)
  • 1+ years leading/overseeing/influencing development activity of multiple developers
  • Has presented a coding topic to development peer group
  • Maintains an active public coding presence through GitHub
  • Has developed and supported their own app
  • Contributed towards an open source project
