Senior IT Infrastructure Architect - Cloud Platform Engineer

General Summary:
The Senior IT Infrastructure Architect - Cloud Platform Engineer is responsible for the deployment and operations of Cloud Platforms and services in our Private Cloud infrastructure.  As a member of the Cloud Platforms infrastructure team, this individual will enhance our next-gen private cloud platforms:  Cloud Foundry, Container as a Service (Docker, Kubernetes, others) on VMware vSphere.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create automation, employ open source software, interact with APIs, and enable CI/CD to create new cloud features, harvest/visualize metrics, monitor health/performance/capacity, etc.
  • Partner with product and development teams to provide education and design consultation
  • Work with platform engineers in designing, building and maintaining PaaS platform (Cloud Foundry)
  • Guide the development and implementation of Cloud applications, systems and processes
  • Deployment and orchestration of Docker containers on Cloud platform
  • Work independently on day-to-day monitoring and operations of cloud and legacy applications
  • Develop automation using scripting languages
  • Handle critical operation tasks as well as on-demand requests
  • Mentor members of the technical staff
Qualifications:
Technical Requirements:
  • Cloud building blocks:  compute, storage, network, tools & automation
  • Platform design, implementation and operations in Cloud IaaS and PaaS environments (major in Cloud Foundry, Docker, and Kubernetes; minor in VMware)
  • Deployment and operations of containers using Docker and/or Kubernetes
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies
  • Experience with DevOps tooling such as Puppet, BOSH
  • Innovating with open source software to create production services
  • Understanding of modern data platforms such as Reddis, RabbitMQ
  • Hands-on, in-depth experience with diverse HTTP/JEE/Middleware products and solutions
  • Broad knowledge in systems telemetry and monitoring (Nagios, ELK, New Relic, AppDynamics, Splunk, etc.)
  • Must have experience in ELK setup
  • Must have experience in VMware ESX, storage technologies and network technologies
  • Solid Linux experience
  • Understanding of cloud application design principles
Additional Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with 12+ years relevant experience; or Master's degree with 8+ years relevant experience
  • 12+ years combined working experience in Architecture, Engineering of Infrastructure, cloud and application servers
  • 2+ years' experience in cloud foundry platform or container technologies
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with proven track record of execution and delivery
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, effective working independently and in a virtual team setting
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral with the ability to adjust the messaging based on the audience
  • Problem solving skills to develop quick and sound solutions to resolve complex issues
Preferred/Desired:
  • PaaS-oriented deployment and implementations using Cloud Foundry is a plus
