Senior Learning Manager, Commercial Banking

The Senior Manager, Learning will lead the hands-on creation of innovative learning and development solutions for the Commercial Bank across a variety of learning delivery media including classroom, eLearning, virtual instructor-led, mobile, MOOCs, video and other emerging digital learning modalities. This individual will build relationships with HR Consultants and Line of Business Leaders to consult on learning strategy, perform learning solution needs assessment, design, development, implementation, and evaluation.


  • Proactively meet with internal business clients to fully understand their business strategies and learning needs
  • Identify and design integrated learning solutions, in conjunction with Subject Matter Experts, to fill performance and development gaps using adult learning methodologies and training techniques
  • Partner closely with HR Consultant to understand HR people priorities that can be supported by learning and development
  • Actively provide thought leadership to clients by knowing their day-to-day business and responding to learning requests
  • Provide strong recommendations to clients on unique ways to rapidly advance their learning and development agendas
  • Educate clients on Capital One's training products and services
  • Contribute to the growth and development of internal team members by sharing new learning techniques and best practices in the learning industry
  • Observe the work of other learning resources working on mutual projects and provide feedback, coaching and guidance as needed
  • Manage large learning projects
  • Conduct research and remain up to date on external vendor solutions

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in learning consultation
  • At least 3 years of experience in learning curriculum design
  • At least 3 years of experience managing the execution of training programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Adult Education or Human Resources
  • At least 5 years of experience in training needs assessment and design
  • At least 5 years of experience in client consulting / performance consulting
  • At least 5 years of leading project teams
  • At least 3 years of¬†experience in the Commercial Banking industry
