The Senior Manager - Inserter R&D will manage Research and / or Development Department. Coordinate research and / or development activities directed toward the development of new technologies and products that meet Division revenue and profit growth and expense objectives. Prepare and update Project and Departmental budgets.  Ensure that the Group's activities are in compliance with current GMP/GLP, Quality System Regulations, and safety.  Provide technical expertise within and external to the Organization. 

Senior Manager - Inserter R&D will:
  • Responsible for providing Technical Support to achieve project milestones
  • Manage functional Department
  • Direct the execution of new product development projects to ensure on time on budget commercialization
  • Assign technical staff and/or resources to Project Teams
  • Provide technical expertise as requested
  • Develop, maintain and adhere to Departmental Budgets
  • Hire, develop and support staff (career advancement, training, mentoring)
  • Remain current in the knowledge of Johnson & Johnson Vision and competitor's products and technologies
  • Manage compliance to GLP/GMP and other laboratory standards
  • Contribute to intellectual property through records of invention and patent disclosures

  • BS in Physical or Life Sciences, Engineering, or Math or equivalent years of work experience required.  Advanced degree (MS, Ph.D.) preferred.
  • Minimum Experience / Training Required
  • 8+ years of experience in a laboratory or product development environment required.  New product/medical device experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated research experience
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong problem solving skills
