Position Description

The Senior Manager, Learning & Development (L&D) is the primary driver leading training design, development, and deployment efforts for all leadership and management training programs designed to advance and elevate the Customer Distribution employee base. The Senior Manager, L&D is responsible for optimization and integration of various tools, processes and capabilities across the business unit. Direct staff in the research, development, and implementation of training and development programs to support various initiatives.

The role will be expected to work alongside the business, and HR stakeholders to design and implement learning and development programs are executed to meet organizational expectations. The role will be accountable to ensure the programs and training materials developed are instructionally sound and that the concepts and materials are consistent and interconnected across all programs.

The role will partner with McKesson Center for Learning (MCL) to ensure effective delivery of core curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of robust and sustainable learning frameworks for the Customer Ops/US Pharma functions
  • Partner with key stakeholders to define learning & development strategies that have broad application across the organization
  • Partner with senior level leaders to identify training needs and provide holistic solutions to close capability gaps
  • Demonstrate leadership in managing multiple work streams across a team of instructional designers, content developers, contractors and vendors
  • Lead project management and budget efforts across learning solutions and customizations
  • Collaborate with L&D partners across McKesson to deliver a complete solution and seamless learning experience to employees


Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years instructional design (training design and development)
  • 5+ years experience managing others
  • 2+ years Organization Development expertise 

Critical Skills

  • Experience executing Human Resources processes for a field/front line organization
  • Experience implementing selling and negotiating skills training
  • Experience implementing Mobile Learning technologies
  • Project management
  • Familiar with training evaluation models
  • Recruiting, interviewing, and candidate selection (i.e., sales, operations, veterans)
  • Strong organization/time management skills and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Must be able to work effectively with associates at all levels of the organization
  • Maintain a high attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint


  • BA, BS in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Instructional Design, Business. MBA/MS in related fields preferred.
