The Sr. Manager, Market Research is
responsible for generating, integrating and translating insights and analytics
into growth opportunities and tactics that shape decisions and drive
organizational action for the relevant TA and brand within the Janssen NA
relevant TA pharmaceutical BU. This position will partner closely with brand or
franchise leadership and cross functional partners and serves as an internal
consultant to the Sales & Marketing team and senior franchise leaders. This
position plays a leading role in advising and counseling management in the
development of new and existing business strategies and tactics and as a
result, shares accountability for business results.
The Sr. Manager, Market Research will:
- Lead cross functional projects from
planning and design to turning insights into strategy with business
partners.Then partnering in taking strategy to tactical design. Will have
oversight of HCP, Patient and Payer market research across all customer
spectrums and will need to guide the prioritization for their team.
- Lead development and implementation
of relevant TA (Brand or Franchise) primary research plan in marketing, sales
and payer spaces, including developmental research (e.g. product / patient/
attitudinal segmentation, A&U studies, etc.,) and evaluative research
(brand positioning, advertising & promotional copy, pricing, etc.).
- Determine optimal research /
analytic approaches, identify appropriate supplier partners, foster strong
partnerships in the context of resources, timing and overall project goals.
- Provide strategic input to help
shape strategic and business plans, brand strategies and new product launch
plans and life cycle management for relevant TA (Brand or Franchise).Provide
input into shaping media planning (TV, consumer programs, HCP campaigns, etc)
with external vendors.
- Influence business partners at all
levels to incorporate insights into decision making. Champion the development
and implementation of research approaches and methods that are innovative and
examples of best practices.
- Serve as a leader in integrating
primary research insights with secondary data and advanced analytical model
results developed by peers across the Commercial Insights & Strategy team
(forecasting, business intelligence, integrated analytics and advanced
analytics/commercial mix modeling/ROI)) for (relevant TAe.g., Brand or
Franchise) and translating into strategies and organizational actions that
drive tangible growth in revenue or profit.
- Focus on key business questions and
frame business problems into research plans. He/she will routinely provide
integrated insights that drive sales and marketing strategies for their
respective franchise teams as well as the portfolio.
- The ability to demonstrate
leadership courage in order to set boundaries and ensure time is spent on the
most critical/ high value projects is critical.
- Partner with Commercial Development
team to embed Value Excellence into the brand or franchise efforts.
- Cultivate meaningful internal and
external partnerships, adding value and insights for the organization; being
insight driven to uncover important unmet needs.
- Manage market research team of
professionals with oversight of all projects and deliverables. Coach market
research and cross functional teams in business acumen and functional area
- Apply and help others on the team
utilize basic consulting skills, including consultative listening, problem definition,
hypothesis generation, data analysis, translation to value, and oral and
written presentation for impact.
- Lead talent strategy which includes
acquisition, development and overall employee performance management and talent
management activities. Inspire and empower team to act with speed, agility and
accountability enabling them to achieve excellence.
- Apply basic consulting skills,
including consultative listening, problem definition, hypothesis generation,
data analysis, translation to value, and oral and written presentation for
impact. Partner to integrate information into analysis and assessments of organizational
tactics & actions.
- Stay abreast of emerging healthcare
& pharmaceutical industry trends and assess their potential impact on our
franchise business strategies. Act with speed, agility and accountability.
Cultivate meaningful internal and external partnerships, adding value and
insights for the organization; being insight driven to uncover important unmet
- BA/BS required; Advanced degree desirable.
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant business experience in market research,
business intelligence, marketing, sales, or business analytics, strategic
planning, management consulting is required.
- Diversity of experience is preferred, with demonstrated learning agility in
order to be able to move across different types of markets such as primary
care/retail or specialty markets.
- Oncology experience is preferred but not required.
- Business/market experience and industry knowledge to influence
franchise/brand level decisions and strategies are required.
- People management experience preferred.
- This position is based in Horsham, PA, Raritan, NJ, or Titusville, NJ. and requires up to 30% domestic
