Senior Manager, Software Engineer

Are you a passionate leader with a pulse on innovative technologies and solutions? Within Capital One Tech, our Senior Managers work with business and technology partners to identify and prioritize new innovations, process improvements and operations. The ideal candidate has the ability manage a production operations effort while also leading a team of skilled technologists through discovery, design and implementation of systems that will improve operational efficiencies. These systems will be designed to provide real-time and future-state awareness of production systems and operations.

In this role you will be a technical leader on a team tasked with building tools to support system operations.  You will participate in the entire software development lifecycle for a system that provides predictive analytics on application performance and availability.  This solution will include big data components, machine learning components, database components, and cloud and web components using a variety of technologies, which you will play a role in selecting.

General responsibilities:

  • Design and develop systems that can be used to address solutions of significant complexity
  • Analyze existing systems to understand their architecture, dependencies, and points of failure
  • Lead the prototype, build, and iteration phases of best-in-class solutions using cutting edge technology
  • Master and champion the adoption of new technologies that provide additional value to the business
  • Promote and drive innovation, inclusive team building and design thinking
  • Proactively look for situations where automation can improve system team performance, and design solutions to build tools to help other teams

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in Managing medium to large IT projects
  • At least 2 years of experience utilizing Agile Software Delivery Methodologies
  • At least 5 years of experience in Software Development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or Computers
  • 5+ years of experience in Managing medium to large IT projects
  • 5+ years of experience utilizing Agile Software Delivery Methodologies
  • 8+ years of experience in Software Development
