McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Senior Manufacturing Supervisor position located in Fort Washington, PA.


McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc. markets a broad range of over-the-counter products, including TYLENOL® acetaminophen products, ZYRTEC® and BENADRYL® allergy medicines, IMODIUM® A-D anti-diarrheal, MOTRIN® IB, and SUDAFED® nasal decongestants. 


The Senior Manufacturing Supervisor will be responsible for:

  • Provide oversight to the manufacturing operations which includes, operate and troubleshoot, set up, adjust, repair and maintain the equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Provide leadership to peer supervisors in operations.  Act as management representative at cross-functional forums. 
  • Take the lead role for Lean manufacturing implementation and standard work initiatives. 
  • Act as Operations representative for tech transfer activities.
  • Able to provide direction and make decisions within the scope of the role and responsibility for a variety of tasks included but not limited to quality and compliance, technical and people management. 
  • Provide leadership to ensure adherence to all safety, environmental and quality policies and procedures.
  • Act as lead for manufacturing schedule management including processing, packaging and warehouse needs. 
  • Operations lead for batch record documentation flow and status as well as error correction assignment.
  • Ensure quality and compliance by:
    • Attend GMP training on the schedule designated for role and as appropriate for role
    • Adhere to strict compliance with procedures applicable to role.
    • Exercise the highest level of integrity in the tasks performed.
    • In a timely and prompt manner, identify report and seek correction for deviations noted in workplace.
    • Embrace a behavior of employee involvement and commitment to doing the job right the first time.
  • Ensure employees under your scope of responsibility are trained in required procedures for the execution of their role and maintain current with training requirements during the year.

  • Be a Power User in the applicable systems and roles assigned.
  • Trained to the role assigned as required for job function in the applicable systems.
  • Utilize tools within MS office and other systems to improve business effectiveness.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or ERP system; including other relevant systems.
  • Working knowledge of an automated system.
  • Be the Manufacturing SME to understand the critical aspect of product, component and labeling requirements. Point of reference for Audit and acts as SME.
  • Understanding of product family, product size and put-up, and product characteristics (color, viscosity) associated active and excipient. Critical parameter associated with all processing steps.
  • Participates in and writes investigations as required.  Acts as approver on investigations.
  • Ensure employees under your scope of responsibility, including Contract Service Providers, are trained in required procedures for the execution of their role and maintain current with training requirements during the year.  Be a Curriculum Owner for respective Contract Service Providers, and ensure Contract Service Provider employees are assigned to the appropriate User Groups.
  • Seek prompt identification, reporting and correction of deviations in the workplace as noted by employees.
  • Extracts, enters all commitments from regulatory documents, internal audits into the commitment tracking systems.  Monitors and follows up for ensuring timely completion of all commitments.
  • Exercises the highest level of integrity in the tasks performed.
  • In a timely and prompt manner, identify, report and seek correction for deviations noted in the workplace.

  • Strong working GMP knowledge. Communicates and identifies GMP gaps.
  • Participate in and act as SME in all types of audits & Inspections.
  • Responsible for ensuring all areas and operations (processes) are completed in a compliant and safe manner.
  • Coordinates efforts in case of emergency- spill, fire etc.
  • Takes necessary action to eliminate and immediately address safety hazards. Communicate any observed unsafe behaviors immediately.
  • Understands the safety concerns and promotes a safety conscience culture for their job function.
  • Wears the appropriate PPE when working in manufacturing and other hazardous working environments and advocates standards of safety.
  • Contributes and attends all EHS programs as assigned.
  • Promptly communicates deficiencies to management.
  • Maintains facility and work area in good working condition.
  • Works with team to ensure all aspects of business remain compliant.
  • Approve SOP and relevant quality documentation. SME and responsible for review and sign off of relevant documentation per the function (i.e. mfg) as required by the quality process in the execution of the relevant work.
  • Edits documentation (i.e. Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions) as necessary. 
  • Perform/assist in the completion and documentation of the process steps as per the documentation directives.
  • Complete visual verification of the process and document these steps in the appropriate system.
  • Document all activities per the GMP requirements.
  • Completes PE/ Lean awareness training.  Ensure that team actively participates and applies learnings from training.
  • Proactively identifies, evaluates, and prioritizes, opportunities for continuous improvement.  Facilitates team identification of these opportunities.
  • Drives implementation of continuous improvement actions and kaizen events.  Acts as a champion for PE / Lean methodology and application of Lean concepts in work area.  Supports team in application of lean concepts and methodology.
  • Responsible for all aspects of 5 conversations for the team.
  • Responsible that all relevant processes (i.e. HR, finance, etc.) are executed and in compliance for the team.
  • Act as a mentor and coach in functional area.
  • Responsible to develop, train and educate the direct report and provide resources and support to ensure that they can execute successfully and in a compliant manner their goals and objectives.
  • Provides leadership in absence of supervisors (for short periods).
  • Assist management through change and transformation activities.
  • Facilitates departmental meetings and may assist in the coordination of other scheduled meetings. In absence of management, attends meetings on their behalf.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or Business is required.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment is required. 
  • Green belt certification is preferred.
  • Pharmaceutical/GMP experience and knowledge of FDA, EMA, and cGMP regulations is preferred. 
  • Proven experience in leading a team in a manufacturing environment is preferred. 
  • Demonstrated end to end thinking. 
  • Proven ability to act as a change agent and lead lean initiatives is preferred.
  • Proven ability to interact, motivate, and lead individuals in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demand of that this position including  continuous lifting and/or moving from 5 to 25 pounds weight material. 
  • Must have the ability to work 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift.
