DePuy Synthes Orthopaedics is currently searching for a Senior Materials Engineer III at their Raynham, MA facility.

The Senior Materials Engineer III will play a key role in developing and implementing raw materials related projects at the Raynham, MA manufacturing facility as part of the global Materials Development Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading break-through materials technology related projects with particular focus on the development and validation of novel metal forming processes (e.g. powder metallurgy / Metal Injection Molding / additive manufacturing processes) that deliver outstanding value in the areas of Quality, Service and Cost. This candidate will need to collaborate closely with global functions (Suppliers, Technology Virtual Team’s, SME’s, Source, Procurement, R&D, Engineering and Operations) in order to be successful identifying and delivering significant materials related engineering projects. Assignment length for the Senior Materials Engineer, expected to last approximately 24 months.
In addition to leading the implementation of specific projects, the role will be key in developing materials strategies that support the wider business and in using meaningful data to win support across key stakeholders.
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ph.D. in Material Sciences or Engineering is preferred.
History of identifying and delivering significant cost reduction projects is preferred.
Process Excellence/Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) Certification is preferred
Statistical and problem solving engineering expertise (Six Sigma, SE or A3) is preferred.
Proficient in interpreting and optimizing GD&T systems as applied to design specifications is preferred.
People leadership experience is preferred.
Casting, Forging or CNC machining process or material testing experience preferred
Demonstrable experience / knowledge of metals and associated processing & testing technologies - especially in the areas of molding, sintering and metallurgy is preferred.
Experience with Metal Injection Molding (MIM), powder metallurgy, 3D printing or any other additive manufacturing processes would be a distinct advantage is preferred.
Experience with the integration of R&D Programs into manufacturing operations is preferred.
Extensive project management experience, in particular projects involving validation of processes/products is preferred.
