About the Team
Workday's Cloud Operations Infrastructure team supports an ever growing environment that consists of over 10,000 servers, more than 2,500 networking devices, in 6 global data centers for which the Workday application runs on. The team is composed of highly skilled Data Center Engineers, System Engineers, and Network Engineers spanning multiple geographies from Pleasanton, CA to Dublin, Ireland. Our mission is to focus 100% on Production Operations by helping the business deliver new products and features, supporting the growing customer base, and maintaining operational excellence across all facets of the data center.
Workday is looking for a Senior level Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure Platform team within the Cloud Operations organization. This team is focused on providing infrastructure design, implementation planning, deployment support and optimizations to support new product, features and service offerings within Workday. As the Sr. Network Engineer, you will partner with other engineering teams to analyze the technical needs of projects and design the required network infrastructure to ensure operational readiness and security of new products in our 9 global production customer data centers.

Work location is primarily in the Pleasanton office but can be flexible with time spent in San Francisco office.
About the Role
Shape solutions through early and active involvement in the Project and Product lifecycle.
Develop infrastructure architectural solutions for major Infrastructure projects.
Ensure architectures improve availability, scalability, and security from counterparts in Operations, Infrastructure, and Product Development.
Remain actively involved in projects beyond the architectural definition, providing assistance during the Engineering and Implementation phases.
Development of a long-range technology roadmap and architecture in all relevant operational technology domains, working with relevant stakeholders.
Gather feedback on architectural solutions in production to ensure requirements have been met, adjusting designs if required.
In some cases, perform Engineering and pilot implementation of new technologies introduced through a new architectural solution.
Respond to strategic design requests as business and technical objectives evolve.
Document current and future network design.
Experience running and maintaining a 24x7 Internet-oriented production environment, preferably across multiple data centers.
Extensive knowledge of Juniper and Cisco products
Large scale LAN/WAN/Backbone/ISP environment experience.
Solid grasp of BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS, CDN, and related networking concepts, with the ability to deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot issues.
Knowledge of automated configuration management and application tuning.
Superior analytics skills, with the ability to identify statistical trends in the Network and design tests to prove out concepts to increase the performance of our service globally.
Fantastic communication and presentation skills; this role will be interacting with Workday Executives and Workday Customers.
Handle multiple projects and tasks, make decisions and solve problems while under pressure, and prioritize and organize effectively.
Strong interpersonal skills to self-lead your day-to-day activities and build relationships with the extended organization
Minimum of 7-10 years experience supporting complex large scale networks.
Ability to travel; infrequent domestic and international travel will be required.
