As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be an agile architect in the design, development, and support of the most visible Internet-scale features and infrastructures at LinkedIn. This position is full-time and based in our office in Mountain View.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for Performance along with hands on development experience, who can take on performance analysis and code optimization challenges across multi-tiers and multi-data centers with focus in one or more of the areas below:
•Capacity Planning & Optimization: Interface with engineering and operations to understand and optimize site-wide capacity. •Mobile Performance Scalability: Enhance user experience by measuring and optimizing user interface across mobile devices. •End-to-End Performance Analysis: Analyze large scale distributed environments and optimize performance bottlenecks in our application stack. •Design Benchmarks, methodology, and analysis tools to be adopted company-wide. •Evangelize and support performance work throughout the engineering team and across the industry.
•BS + 5 years of relevant work experience, MS + 4 yrs of relevant work experience or PhD + 2 yrs of relevant work experience in a performance engineering role analyzing, troubleshooting and automating performance workloads on large scale systems. •Experience with large-scale search infrastructure. Familiarity with Lucene/Solr a plus •A proven track record of optimization and design improvements for performance and scalability. •Experience with performance & modeling of capacity planning medium to large scale websites a big plus •Experience in debugging performance of Mobile devices (IOS and/or Android ) and node. server applications a big plus •Experience with Java and SQL performance tuning that includes garbage collection, heap management, JVM configuration, explain plan, query optimization, optimizer hints and Linux development. •Experience identifying bottlenecks across various layers of web application stacks (client, network, java containers, oracle backend).
