Role Summary:

Responsible for complex power systems engineering

assignments involving software development and/or delivery in a designated

technical area in support of GE projects.

Essential Responsibilities:

+ Responsible for complex software development and successfuldelivery of assigned functions to meet corporate project commitments. Work includes: functional softwarespecifications, design, coding, testing, integration, customer testing anddelivery. Performs software design whileensuring system criteria are met.

+ Able to lead specification, design, development,implementation, and software maintenance efforts for multiple technical areas.

+ Consults with other technical leads to ensure thatproject-related system design guidelines are being followed. Responsible for writing Functional SoftwareDesigns.

+ Interfaces with customers on all technical, project, andbusiness issues.

+ Responsible for the work within the discipline area andcoordination with Project and Product Managers. Work requests may come from Operations, R&D, or Support. Coordination activities are as follows:

+ Provides engineering estimates for work requests

+ Maintains a complete set of work requests and commitmentsfor the discipline area.

+ Interacts regularly with Project Managers and ProductManagers to negotiate delivery schedules, provide cost-to-complete estimates,assess progress, and mitigate risk.

+ Elevates unmanageable delivery risk concerns to GroupManager and works toward mitigation

+ Provides marketing support for proposals and demonstrationsto potential customers.

+ Ensures quality assurance standards and procedures arefollowed in all aspects of software development.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

+ MSEE with thesis or related work in power systems andcomputer science or equivalent or equivalent work experience.

+ 5 years development or project delivery experience inrelated field.

Eligibility Requirements:

+ Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE mayagree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future ifthere is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.

+ Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%.

Desired Characteristics:

+ Excellent programming skills in C++, Java or other relatedlanguage, as required. Strongunderstanding of database operation.

+ Expert knowledge of transmission applications e.g. but notlimited to power flow, contingency analysis and state estimation, and anexcellent overview of the EMS and/or Energy Markets software.

+ Excellent knowledge of customer perspective and needs.

+ Excellent knowledge of utility industry practices.

+ Proven software design skills at the application andtechnical area level.

+ Excellent ability to predict integration issues and topreclude schedule impacts.

+ Ability to prioritize work assignments and shift workefforts based on the needs of the department or business goals.

+ Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communicationskills. Ability to write professionaland technical reports and procedures. Ability to make formal and informal presentations to technical andnon-technical staff and customers.

+ Must be able to interact, communicate, collaborate, andnegotiate with individuals at all levels of the organization.

+ Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.

+ Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

+ Demonstrates a high degree of personal and professionalintegrity.

+ Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours toaccommodate business needs.
