Senior Program Manager
Azure Active Directory Domain Services empowers our customers to migrate applications they have deployed on-premises to Azure, without worrying about the identity needs of those applications. With this fast-evolving service, we’re taking one of Microsoft’s crown jewels - Active Directory - and offering that in the cloud as a service. The team tackles interesting engineering challenges to ensure we provide a highly secure, fully managed service at scale. We are ramping up our efforts to target large enterprise customers with massive cross-geographic presence, who demand an identity system that scales to their business? needs. Our long-term roadmap for the service involves the ability to replace on-premises AD deployments with this service and offloading a lot of identity management burden from our customers. This will be realized through the development of sophisticated caching and syncing technology in new innovative form factors such as fully managed virtual appliances. Considering over 90% of Fortune 500 companies deploy AD on premises, this is a huge opportunity for us.
We are looking for an experienced program manager to articulate and own the evolution of identity requirements for this critical product. In this role, you will define and deliver new features in the service that enable customers to move more of their on-premises infrastructure and apps to the cloud. You will need to be detail oriented and learn the intricacies of how apps work with AD to be able to deliver the right feature set to lift-and-shift these apps to the cloud. The relationships you nurture with our customers will keep valuable feedback flowing. This will help us refine our end-user experiences and make best use of a focused, agile team to deliver solid value. You will collaborate with our colleagues in Azure networking, storage and other partner teams to drive feature development that our service can rely on. We will count on your strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills, good analytical and problem-solving skills and interest in working on difficult, ambiguous problems.
• 5+ years of PM experience shipping high quality, customer facing software.
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Mathematics or related discipline
• Demonstrable experience working well with partner teams and customers
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills - ability to explain a customer requirement in language that customers and engineers can easily understand.
• Strong focus on metrics and data driven engineering
• Prior experience targeting the “IT Admin” persona is a plus but not necessary
• Prior experience working on Active Directory or identity scenarios is a plus but not necessary
