Windows 10 is driving a digital transformation across enterprises by providing modernized and cloud optimized experiences for IT and end-users through the entire PC lifecycle. Traditionally Windows PCs have been re-imaged with custom images, joined to Active Directory domains, running traditional Win32 applications, and managed through System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). Maintaining and staying current with Windows versions through traditional tools and processes could be challenging and costly for IT organizations. However, through new Windows capabilities like Autopilot for streamlined provisioning without imaging, rich productivity and security through Intune Mobile Device Management (MDM), modern applications backed by the Microsoft Store for Business, ring-based updates delivered through cloud services like Windows Update for Business, and deep analytics for unprecedented IT insights, Windows is transforming rapidly. With twice annual updates through Windows as a Service delivering these innovations, IT organizations are keen to embrace these changes to streamline and simplify both the ecosystem of technologies around Windows in traditional management, and their corresponding processes and workflows around those technologies. Transformation is challenging, and the Microsoft approach has been to build bridges from the “old” way to the “new” way.
The System Center Configuration Manager product manages a large percentage of the world’s enterprise PCs. Over 100 million Windows clients are managed by SCCM Current Branch, and that’s growing every week. SCCM, together with Intune, is the foundational bridge for driving this traditional to modern transformation, and we’re looking for an experienced Program Manager to join our Enterprise Mobility Management product team (SCCM and Intune), to help us drive the Windows 10 digital transformation forward through co-management, a new concept of PCs being both SCCM and Intune managed, to help IT organizations make this highly valuable, though challenging transition.
