The Senior Scientist - Cola Product Development will develop and commercialize new products and processes for the Worldwide Technical Operations located in Valhalla, New York.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Lead and document product development lab work, including development of benchtop prototypes, implementation and maintenance of stability testing, and scale-ups for commercialization;
  • Provide product formulation support by accurately preparing laboratory beverages and concentrates and submitting samples for analytical and sensory evaluation. Create beverage documents, ensure products are safe stable and legal;
  • Conduct trouble shooting and root cause analysis for brand maintenance issues;
  • Provide technical guidance and bench development for targeted development initiatives and existing brands;
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written, including timely and accurate documentation of work in laboratory notebooks, actively communicates status of research;
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships across R&D and non R&D functions as necessary to support business growth initiatives
  • Lead application of consumer research and experimental design to project objectives;
  • Demonstrates understanding of all calculations taught in FBD;
  • Demonstrates ability to learn and use key processes: PV, FMS, Food Law, MDN, eNPPR;
  • Accurately maintains Laboratory notebook and follows all safety requirements (e.g. PPE); and
  • Leads cross functional team to reach project objectives.


Qualifications/Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:

  • B.S. and 3-5 years of experience OR
  • M.S. and 1-3 years of experience OR
  • Ph.D. with 0 years of experience
  • Ability to provide thought leadership on tactical aspects of projects; and
  • Ability to analyze and communicate implications of experimental results.

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Ability to use bench scale and pilot plant equipment flawlessly to produce quality product to target;
  • Ability to analyze problems, develop accurate data and determine causes;
  • Proficient in computer programs including Word, Excel, Power Point and internet;
  • Good time management and organization skills;
  • A proven track record in product development;
  • Outstanding teamwork, communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to analyze and communicate implications of emerging consumer trends
  • Proven track record in maintaining good working relationship
  • with business partners (Marketing, Operations, etc.)
  • Lead and influence project teams
