Role Description
We are seeking innovative microbiologist / immunologist to join creative and fast-paced Inflammation and Immunology team at the company. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of mucosal innate immunology with a focus on host/pathogen interactions and the influence of the microbiome on host immunity. The incumbent will be a part of a research program aimed at elucidating molecular pathways that regulate how intestinal microbes impact on mucosal homeostasis. This role will provide the microbiology expertise towards developing targeted therapeutics aimed at addressing mechanisms underlying host protective versus pathologic responses with the ultimate goal of delivering novel therapeutics to address significant unmet medical need in chronic inflammatory disorders including inflammatory bowel disease.

•Development and execution of in vitro experimental model systems to study host microbial interaction utilizing anaerobic bacteria and primary human in vitro cell systems

•The candidate will be experienced in microbial isolation, cultivation, and characterization, and possess a deep microbiological aptitude.

•Will be expected to proactively identify and leverage advances in microbiome research as well as new technologies to impact programs.

•Presentation of data, working with others on collaborative projects and working independently

•Critical to success will be the ability to design experiments, interpret and track results, and utilize this information for immune-therapy development.

• BS/MS in Microbiology, Immunology or related discipline and at least 10 years industry experience

• Or PhD in Microbiology, Immunology or related discipline and 2 years of Postdoctoral or equivalent Industrial experience

• Expertise with bacterial handling and bacterial clearance assays and in vivo infection models

• Experience with standard immunology techniques including human myeloid cell biology and / or autophagy pathways is highly desirable

• Required laboratory skills include maintenance and preservation of anaerobic bacteria, immunoassays, in vitro cellular stimulations, flow cytometry, ELISA, and cell imaging assays

• Effective communication skills

• Strong history of publication in peer-reviewed journals
