Description:
As a Senior Scientist for Oncology Translational Science at AstraZeneca R&D Boston/Waltham you will develop and implement assays to evaluate pharmacodynamics, mechanism of action and patient selection hypotheses using clinical samples. In this position, you will lead the analysis and work collaboratively with other members of the team to interpret the data.  Knowledge of cancer biology and/or immuno-oncology and experience with a broad variety of cell and molecular biology techniques and platforms is required.  You will be expected to work closely with your supervisor to define project goals, proactively seek information from the literature and internal resources to develop project plans, and deliver high-quality results in a timely manner.
Minimum Requirements:
  • BS/MS in Immunology, Oncology, Cell, Molecular Biology or equivalent, and 5 years experience, preferably in industry
  • Knowledge of cancer biology and/or immuno-oncology
  • Demonstrated expertise with proteomic/imuno-assays (ELISA, Western blot, mass spectrometry) and transcriptomic (RNASeq/Nanostring/qRTPCR, etc.) 
  • Experience with analysis of clinical samples, including FFPE and frozen tissue; blood, plasma, serum
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational, data management, and interpretation skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Effective presentation skills
  • A proven track record of high productivity and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of working collaboratively with other disciplines as well as independently when needed
Additional desirable expertise:
  • Experience with sample management databases
  • Experience with FACS and/or IHC
  • Experience with carrying out and analyzing multiplexed measurements
  • Experience working with human blood
  • Computational biology skills
