Senior/Principal Frontend Developer

We're looking for a senior/principal Frontend Developer with 7 years of experience that can take our B2B portal team to the next level. Looking for a candidate with solid understanding of UI architectures with strong Javascript and Rails experience and enjoy snooping around the code to see what surprises wait to be found. When reviewing code, you do not look for correctness, but for best practices. You have a natural curiosity and are willing to bring new ideas, libraries and solutions to the rest of the team. You must be a strong communicator and willing listener; our team and company are geographically dispersed and need team members that can work in a distributed environment.

Candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • M.S. in Computer Science
  • 7 years Frontend development with strong JavaScript and Rails experience.
  • Proficiency building responsive web applications
  • Proficient in ReactJS and Node
  • Have worked in developing server-side MVC applications ideally Java/Spring
  • Proficient in Ruby, CoffeeScript, RESTful APIs, MySQL
  • Competent in web service technologies/ideologies
  • Strong communication skills, able to clearly articulate, defend and document design decisions and work with a distributed team
  • Interest and aptitude for understanding the business models that drive the company
Ideal candidates would also have the following:
  • Demonstrated experience in building complex web applications
  • 2 years experience in front-end JavaScript MVT frameworks like Backbone.js or Ember.js
  • Experience with Rails Engine gems
  • Experience in the online advertising space
Responsibilities include:
  • Working with the product and engineering teams to design and develop software services
  • Document software design and be able to communicate decisions with team members
  • Develop unit and integration tests
  • Deploy software in operational settings
  • Handle operational issues that arise within a software platform with uptime requirements

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
