Oracle Data Guard is the industry leader for enterprise data protection and extreme scalability. Data Guard creates and maintains one or more standby databases to protect Oracle data from failures, disasters, human error, and data corruptions. It is one of the key technologies that powers public and private database clouds. All major public cloud providers, including Amazon.com and Apple, use Data Guard as a core part of their infrastructure. Data Guard is also used by the world's largest financial institutions such as Bank of America, telecom providers such as British Telecom and China Mobile, streaming entertainment providers such as Netflix, and major online retailers.
Data Guard is also key to handling Big Data problems. Data Guard has been deployed on thousands of databases containing petabytes of storage at hundreds of datacenters around the world. CERN, the world's largest particle physics institute with the world's most powerful particle accelerator, uses Oracle to store and replicate petabytes of data across many locations worldwide. Our ongoing collaboration with strategic customers gives us the unique opportunity to research and solve both theoretical and practical problems, and to validate our solutions in environments that are on the leading edge of technology and innovation. Our research efforts have resulted in many patents and generate significant revenue for Oracle.
The Data Guard development group is part of the HA Systems group, which is responsible for high availability, replication and system technologies.
