We're looking for a senior Rails engineer with 5 years of relevant experience that can help take our B2B portal team to the next level. You need to have a solid understanding of the Rails platform and enjoy snooping around the code to see what surprises wait to be found. When reviewing code, you not only look for correctness, but also for best practices. You have a natural curiosity and are passionate to bring new ideas and solutions to the team. You must be a strong communicator and active listener. Our team and company are geographically dispersed and need team members that can work in a distributed environment.
Highly preferred candidate requirements:
B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent, M.S. a plus
5 years developing software for the Rails platform
Proficient in Ruby, CoffeeScript, RESTful APIs, MySQL
Competent in web service technologies/ideologies
Strong communication skills, able to clearly articulate, defend and document design decisions and work with a distributed team
Interest and aptitude for understanding the business models that drive the company
Ideal candidates would also have the following:
Demonstrated experience in building complex web applications
Experience with Rails Engine gems
Competence in CSS, LESS
Experience in the online advertising space
Working with the product and engineering teams to design and develop software services
Document software design and be able to communicate decisions with team members
Develop unit and integration tests
Deploy software in operational settings
Handle operational issues that arise within a software platform with uptime requirements
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.
Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
