Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Migration
The Weather Company, an IBM Business is seeking a strong Cloud Migration Engineer to join our team at the world's leading provider of weather data. We are looking for a passionate cloud engineer who understands large cloud deployments, high traffic APIs, and migrations. The Weather Company wants you to help drive infrastructure and software changes needed for a large scale cloud workload migration from AWS to the IBM Cloud. Work with solution teams to develop offerings and perform as a solution architect for the migration and re-hosting of TWC cloud service offerings to the IBM Cloud. You will develop architectural options and provide guidance across network, storage, operating systems, virtualization, other databases.
Demonstrate your consultative capabilities by providing value added information to clients for connecting technology and business value in the solutions that you develop. You will be an IBM Cloud evangelist responsible for educating clients on the benefits and options for using the IBM Cloud platform and clients value proposition.
Participate and lead architectural discussions with clients as you build new and re-architected cloud solutions and help customers migrate applications and services to the IBM Cloud platform.
Participate in system design planning, review, and implementation working groups.
Possess a strong background in Enterprise-level architecture design and engineering of industry standard (best-of-breed) core infrastructure and open source cloud technologies.
Possess a working knowledge of current AWS architecture and tools, including queuing and NOSQL database technologies used to support TWC applications. Must also possess a strong working knowledge of TWC cloud services currently deployed on AWS.
Possess a working knowledge of IBM Cloud architectures, including Softlayer, containers (Armada), messaging, Compose database offerings, Identity and Access Management, security and CI/CD approaches
Demonstrable skill of object-oriented programming languages and techniques being proficient in development using at least two (preferably three) languages including NodeJS, GoLang, Scala or Java.
Advanced understanding of and experience with continuous delivery development and deployment pipelines
Experience with modern devops automation technologies (e.g., CHEF, Terraform, Jenkins)
Proficiency with unit testing and test-driven development
Proficiency with version control, preferably Git
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker and Kubernetes)
Experience with cloud technologies, especially AWS and IBM Cloud
Experience with at least one modern NoSQL database technology, preferably two or more (e.g, Cassandra, MongoDB, Riak, Redis, Memcached)
