    The Workday Collaboration Platform & Services team is building a highly scalable, extensible, collaboration platform and services for Workday. We are looking for a highly motivated, passionate, and experienced engineers to join us. Working in a team of fun engineers, you will use our standards-based technologies and toolset to expand Workday's business offerings. This position offers the opportunity to drive the design, development, and delivery of shared components and collaboration frameworks used by Workday customers. Ideal candidates will be exceptionally strong individual contributors with a passion for innovative software development, eager to learn about cutting-edge technologies, and have proven ability to deliver quality software with optimism and positivity.

    Your responsibilities will include all aspects of software development management, from design and analysis to development, implementation and maintenance. You must be a proactive and hardworking individual. 

    Required Skills
    • Excellent knowledge of software engineering best practices, including but not limited to coding standards, continuous build and deployment best practices, testing, performance, scaleability and operations efficiency
    • Experience with distributed and service oriented architectures
    • Expert in Java and/or Scala development
    • Object Oriented or Functional design/development skills and have experience driving projects from concept to prototype to implementation
    • Passion for operational excellence who cares about their code and its customer/user
    • Product Delivery
      • Designs and leads substantial features with a strong focus on non-functional requirements. (scalability, performance, monitoring, maintenance, security, usability and quality etc.)
      • Takes initiative/ownership to drive projects to completion and overcome roadblocks with positivity and creativity
      • Has solid and deep knowledge of functional/service domain
      • Identifies high priority tasks and dependencies within a  feature to accelerate their completion
      • Uses PoC and prototyping as basis for design choices

      • Identifies and takes action on technical debt

    • Scala functional development experience
    • Experience developing cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability, and tradeoffs therein
    • Extensive experience developing distributed and concurrent systems; secure, fault tolerant, highly available, recoverable, consistent, scaleable, and predictable and the tradeoffs therein
    • A love for learning and a passion for helping others
    • Previous experience developing in an Agile/Scrum environment

    • Collaborate with fellow engineers to continually improve methodologies, standards, processes, and tools to make teams more efficient
    • Lead and mentor other engineers on the team
    • Use your troubleshooting and triage skills, to provide assistance to the support and operations staff in solving escalated production and customer issues

    Required Education and Experience
    • Bachelors Degree or higher. Computer Science/Engineering major is preferable
    • 7+ years of software engineering experience
