Job Summary

Crowe Horwath is seeking a dynamic experienced Senior Staff Auditor to join our Audit- Retail Dealership (RD) team. Senior Staff Auditor will have an opportunity to work on a variety of Retail Dealership (RD) clients to primarily service South Bend and Indianapolis clients if this Senior Staff Auditor is based in South Bend or Indianapolis. This position can be based in any of the following cities: South Bend, Indianapolis, Chicago, Columbus or Tampa.



The Senior Staff Auditor would be responsible for coordinating and performing mainly RD engagements which consist of review, audit and tax work.  The Senior Staff Auditor will not only be expected to perform at a high level in regards to their technical abilities but should have the necessary skills to help develop other staff that may be new to the firm or the Retail Dealership horizontal within Audit. They will be responsible for supervising 1 to 3 staff and/or interns assigned to the engagement.  In addition to serving clients, this individual should be comfortable with staff development and maintaining client relationships. 


Skill sets required include:

Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must. Candidate should have the ability to interact with clients, prospects, all levels of staff, and colleagues in a professional fashion. Candidate will need to be able to multi-task as planning, executing and wrapping up of various engagements may have to be performed concurrently. Candidate should also have strong technical skills and be able to perform research on technical matters prior to submitting work for Manager review. Experience working on dealership clients is preferred. 


Minimum Qualifications:  

  • 3 to 4 years of experience with a mid-size or national firm.
  • Four year degree in finance and/ or accounting is required. Master level accounting degree is preferred
  • Audit experience with engagement management, audit and review skills and staff supervision are required
  • Candidate will need to be able to multi task as planning, executing and wrapping up various engagements may have to be performed concurrently.
  • Ability to perform research on technical matters prior to submitting for manager review is essential.
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and audit preparation software
  • Candidate must meet 150 hour requirement for CPA eligibility for the state of Indiana; CPA license in Indiana preferred
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites
