Senior Systems Architect, Cloud Migration
The Weather Company, an IBM Business is seeking a strong Cloud Migration Architect to join our team at the world's leading provider of weather data. We are looking for a passionate application architect who understands large cloud deployments, high traffic APIs, and migrations. The Weather Company wants you to help drive infrastructure and architectural changes needed for a large scale cloud workload migration from AWS to the IBM Cloud. You will be part of a motivated team of engineers that will encourage you to share and advance your skills and knowledge.
To be part of this high performing team, the person will need to be an evolving, extremely inquisitive, and self-motivating creative disruptor and, most importantly, a fit for the Weather Company culture. The Weather Company is a casual and collaborative atmosphere that has a flat and open startup feel and energy. The successful applicant will be fail-fast, results-oriented, and constructively dissatisfied. They will be concerned with producing and delivering outcomes and products with great velocity over perfection. They will have an insatiable hunger for learning and innovation and passion for computer programming. Patient and purposeful, the person will seek first to understand, but not fear challenging the status quo with professionalism and politeness. The Weather Company is a place where nothing but momentum is sacred, and all is open to spirited debate. Awe-inspiring ideas, standing on their own merit, trump titles and seniority, and speaking up is welcome, nay, encouraged from everyone. The successful applicant will have a combination of passion, persistence, preparation, patience, endurance and transparency.
You will be playing a key role in accelerating cloud migration capabilities to meet TWC internal and customer demand. You will be asked to apply your experience in DevOps, distributed systems, operations, data migration, and data management to build high quality, automated migration systems for a large variety of workloads.
This is a highly technical position for someone who can dive deep, build cloud-optimized architectures, develop business strategies, and influence our product roadmap by working closely with IBM Cloud migration engineering teams. The ideal candidate is as comfortable white boarding complex software architectures with a roomful of engineers as they are briefing an executive audience.
Possess a strong background in Enterprise-level architecture design and engineering of industry standard (best-of-breed) core infrastructure and open source cloud architectures.
Possess a working knowledge of current AWS architecture and tools, including queuing and NOSQL database technologies used to support TWC applications. Must also possess a strong working knowledge of TWC cloud services currently deployed on AWS.
Possess a working knowledge of IBM Cloud architectures, including Softlayer, containers (Armada), messaging, Compose database offerings, Identity and Access Management, security and CI/CD approaches
