Service designers flex from being strategic to tactical and from being creative and participatory in the design process to pragmatic and analytical. They are gifted storytellers and connectors. As a service design intern, you will work alongside service designers, visual designers, and design managers in the service design practice on highly strategic projects across the organization.
You will have the opportunity to apply what you’ve learned from your studies to real world service design challenges. You will also receive mentorship from industry-leading designers and have the opportunity to network with design industry professionals, both inside the service design practice and across Capital One.
Our interns will learn methods and gain new skills by working with us on service design projects both large and small. Similarly, we want you to bring new methods and techniques to our practice.
Designers who take pride in their work but have a humble approach thrive at Capital One. You should be able to contribute as a designer across the project lifecycle, with comfort and fluency as a researcher, strategist, and designer. You employ design thinking methods to uncover insights to inform design decisions. You are an excellent communicator and feel comfortable presenting your work to others.
We are seeking intern candidates with the following:
Preferred qualifications—extra credit
The Service Design practice is based in San Francisco, though we travel frequently to work with other designers and business partners across the organization. During your internship, you will primarily work out of the office at San Francisco’s Pier 1, with occasional visits to other Capital One offices in San Francisco and potentially travel to other Capital One campuses.
