Description
Responsibilities:
P osition Summary: The Shipping / Receiving / Mail Clerk is responsible for the expedient and accurate handling of all shipments / deliveries into and out of the receiving dock of the facility. Shipping and Receiving duties occur from 7am-3pm for receiving dock area of operations and deliveries within the building to the appropriate parties.

Primary Responsibilites:
  • Receive incoming shipments at the dock, inspect and deliver CHSD128 Libertyville / Vernon Hills High Schools / CHSD128 Administrative office documents, materials or miscellaneous equipment, using existing tracking, receiving and work order system logs.
  • Assembly of items as necessary
  • Schedule outgoing shipments from staff within the building, box an label items as necessary
  • Maintain stocking of materials and equipment in proper storage areas and inventory of supplies
  • Be familiar with shipping and receiving procedures and restrictions
  • Conduct routine inventories on items such as copy paper, colored paper, shipping materials and other supplies as determined
  • Responsible for removing snow and ice from the receiving dock and receiving areas including the outside entryway
  • Load and Unload products and materials in district vehicles for deliveries.
  • Move products and materials to appropriate storage areas
  • Operates manual pallet jack, electric pallet jack and miscellaneous carts / dollies
  • Clean and maintain dock, freight elevator and freight platform delivery areas.
  • Comply with all OSHA and SDS Standards, and all Company work rules, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional attitude among co-workers and visitors to the facility.
  • Perform secondary duties as assigned to cover essential areas where other employees are absent and assist with set ups and tear downs as required.


Working Conditions:

Working conditions are normal for a warehouse environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 100 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to-eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and work gloves. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Lifting, bending, twisting
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery
  • Ability to lift up to 50 - 75 pounds
  • Position requires repetitive motion, overhead reaching, working in both heat and cold.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Basic computer skills required, good verbal and written skills
  • Must be able to communicate with staff, vendors, clients and delivery personnel
  • Must be able to push a warehouse cart or manual pallet jack of approximately 600 pounds
  • Must possess a current valid driver's license
