This is an amazing opportunity to work with one of the company Consumer Healthcare's key clients -
Walmart. The successful Shopper and Category Insights Manager will have regular, on-going
contacts both inside and outside of the Company. Inside contacts include Sales, Shopper
and Category Insights teams, Insights and Innovation, Marketing, Trade/Customer
Marketing and Shopper Marketing. External contacts will include proper account based
Personnel such as buyers, category managers, retailer market research and/or store testing
groups, as well as existing 3rd Party contacts such as IRI, Spectra, Shopper Insights
The Shopper and Category Insights Manager will act as the Category Expert both within the company and to their Walmart contacts. He/she will be charged with finding
creative solutions to business issues that will drive increased sales, market share and profits for the
Key challenges include analyzing competitive activity, understand the retailer's strategies
and goals and developing merchandising tactics (based on insights) to meet or exceed
those goals and insure in-store flawless execution of the programs developed at
Provide advanced analytical approach to store level data analysis to drive business
building merchandising decisions and flawless execution of modular adjustments.
Broaden level of influence throughout the Retailer (Walmart), particularly within the
non-purchasing functions (i.e. marketing and consumer research, store testing, etc.)
Develop innovative merchandising strategies/tactics focused on driving profitable growth
of retailer category.
Gain the company & Walmart support for shopper research initiatives, and assume project
management responsibilities for the research, including conducting, analyzing, and
communicating results, as well as development of action-oriented recommendations.
Review and analyze existing consumer/shopper research materials to identify new
learnings to address current business issues.
The Shopper and Category Insight Manager responsibilities include frequent interactions
with various contacts with the customer, headquarter personnel, and shoppers.
*Four-Year College Degree preferred; MBA a plus
*4- 5 Years of Shopper and Category Management experience with a major (national)
retailer, or 5+ years of equivalent CPG industry experience.
*Excellent communication and negotiation skills
*Extensive understanding of strategic thinking and ability to apply tactics.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
25%+ travel is expected. Possessing valid driver's license for maintaining local and non-local
contacts is a key requirement.
