Silicon Architecture Engineer Job Description
In this role, the candidate will be part of the Datacenter Processor Architecture Team that defines and develops the architecture for CPUs used in data centers. Responsibilities include developing conceptual architectural solutions for specific problems, developing detailed architectural and micro-architectural mechanisms, specifying functional, performance, power, and exception handling requirements, and working with design and validation teams to realize a solution.
You will determine, specify and evaluate the viability of complex hardware features and structures and ensures that software and hardware designs interface correctly. You will design framework for particular functions. As a member of the team, you will define, document and test processes for inclusion into technical platforms, subsystem specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Identify, analyze and resolve subsystem and/or SoC design weaknesses. Influence the shaping of future products by significantly contributing to the architecture used across design families. Provide multilayered technical expertise for next generation initiatives. Some travel, including international travel, may be required to interact with customers and development partners located outside of US. Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through relevant previous school, industry jobs and/or research experience.
- Masters in computer engineering, computer science or Electrical Engineering with 5 years of experience or a PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering with 3 years of experience
- At least 5 years of experience in definition and development of SoC or system architecture dealing with hardware/software interface, CPU, memory, and IO subsystem, setting performance goals and metrics, and writing hardware architecture specifications
