Overland Park Regional Medical Center is one of the premiere medical facilities in Johnson County. Social Worker MSW Responsibilities:
- As a member of the health care team the social worker provides social work services to patients and families, and other individuals significant to the patient in order to facilitate adjustment to the patient's illness and provide for the patients continuing care needs. Services provided include evaluating patients psychosocial needs, discharge planning, providing crisis intervention, referrals to community agencies and arranging post hospital care, counseling patients and families, and leading therapy and support groups. The Social Worker works collaboratively with other members of the health care team and the patient/family to provide the patient with an appropriate care plan during the patient's hospital stay and continuing care and follow-up after the patient leaves the hospital. Services are provided to the patient/family taking into consideration age specific psychosocial, family and financial factors as they affect the patient's adjustment to their illness.
Education: Prefer Master of Social Work degree (MSW) from a university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, BSW graduates with extensive experience may also be eligible.
Licensure/Certifications: A wide general knowledge of social work practice; knowledge of human development and behavior, especially as it relates to the elderly, family and group processes; knowledge of the community, its internal process, modes of development and change; community resources, communication skills, positive coping mechanisms, knowledge of
individual, family, group and social change processes; an understanding of biological, psychological and environmental factors that affect child and adult development. Kansas/Missouri Social Work license is required.
Experience: Prefer a minimum of one year social work experience in a health care setting.
