The Solaris Core Kernel team is responsible for delivering the heart and soul of Solaris - the kernel. The technology focus of the team is in the areas of virtual memory, the scheduler, DTrace (dynamic tracing), IO, scalability, performance and much, much more.

This position is for an extraordinarily creative and motivated software engineer to work in a close knit team on delivering innovative and unique features for Solaris in the area of Scheduler. The individual should have

- UNIX kernel internals experience (Solaris is definitely preferred)
- X64 and/or SPARC hardware familiarity
- Good understanding of operating system internals
- Excellent C and assembly coding skills
- Strong build, debug and test skills
- Strong desire to innovate and see that innovation released to customers
- Desire to solve complex problems

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
