The Oracle Linux team builds a Linux distribution and works on next generation
cloud technologies and infrastructure components. Our team also works on integrating Linux with Oracle products and offerings.
We're looking for a senior software developer to debug and fix Linux system performance issues. The role involves understanding the interaction of Oracle application workloads, operating system, hypervisor, and hardware to track down the root cause of performance issues. You should have solid system-level understanding of how a workload runs on Linux and know how to approach this type of problem.
- experience with C/C , Python, Java, bash
- good understanding of Linux, virtualization, and distributed systems
- good understanding of smp, numa, and cpu microarchitecture
- experience with various network and storage protocols
- experience with DB or middle-tier workloads
- excellent problem solving and debugging skills
- experience with git and svn
- able to work independently and in a distributed team

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 more years of software engineering or related experience.
