The team mainly provides functional, reliability and security fixes in Windows after it has shipped. Our work is an important part of Windows brand value: good support is an important reason for customers to choose Windows. Issues come to us from a wide variety of sources: external security researchers, enterprise customers, developers, Microsoft partners and from telemetry. Our security updates ship to 100’s millions of customers and over 1 billion PCs each month, via Windows Update. We also fix business critical bugs for enterprise or OEM customers as well as more broadly applicable problems reported from telemetry (Watson/OCA/SQM) or online forums. There is plenty of opportunity to see the big picture, think outside the box and be creative in making improvements far beyond the level of individual bugs. We get to work mostly in user mode, with some kernel mode, we need to have deep understanding of many kernel components to be able to create solid user experience around them. We contributed to Windows 10 and have started pre-RTM servicing. We will also be helping with the next release of Windows. Our work includes making architectural changes to v-next to improve security, developing world-class static analysis tools, and other high-impact proactive projects. Key Responsibilities
● Reproducing and debugging customer-reported problems.
● Fixing externally found security vulnerabilities and all the variants you can find.
● Crafting high-quality fixes with a minimum app-compat risk.
● Prioritizing your work and delivering fixes in a timely fashion.
● Working with Escalation Engineers to test and verify your fixes in customer environment.
● Working with Product Group to get your fix integrated into the next version of OS.
● Finding ways to improve the product/tools/processes for long-term benefit.

Experience and Skills
● Very strong C and/or C++ is a must.
● Experience with JavaScript, C#, WWA or Windows Store Apps is a plus (but not a requirement)
● Proficient in debugging (user-mode)
● Excellent communication skills.
● Strong problem solving and deductive skills.
● Good attention to detail

Basic Qualifications:
● B.S. in Computer Science or a related field.
