Are you passionate about building cool devices using leading edge technologies. Do you want to work at the lowest level of the software stack. Our team is hiring a capable developer to work on system software and firmware on the Windows kernel and base platform technologies team.

Responsibilities:
As a developer in our team, you will work with Microsoft hardware product teams to build high quality firmware for Microsoft devices. The work ranges from developing early hardware initialization code, low level UEFI drivers supporting new transports and protocols, feature code to enable new capabilities on Microsoft devices, to debugging and optimizing existing firmware. Projects often involve collaboration with industry partners around the world as well as groups across Microsoft.

Team:
Our team spans the lowest layers of the Windows OS and the platform firmware.
As a member of the team you will have the opportunity to work on products and features that showcase the best of Windows and Microsoft technologies. The team is uniquely situated at the junction between the hardware platform and system software. Our team has a number of dependent teams, internal and external, which allows you to work with a diverse set of individuals across Windows, Microsoft and the industry. If you are a systems or firmware developer, there is really no other group to work in!

Basic Qualifications:
• 2+ years of working in systems programming

Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong background in operating system and hardware architecture internals
• The aptitude and motivation to learn low-level details of firmware and kernel technologies.
• Experience with a large, complex, existing code base.
• In depth knowledge of C, x86, x64 and ARM assembly language.
• Advanced debugging skills using both hardware and software debuggers.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• A BS or MS in Computer Science, or an equivalent educational experience is required.
