Current Need

The Software Engineer is accountable to work on projects on the Knowledgebase Tools Support Team (KTST).  This Engineer will work closely with the project team and Requirements Management to assure the development of the software and processes that support the Clinical department’s knowledgebase development.  Additionally, this engineer will perform QA testing of other KTST developers’ work. 


Software Development.  Analyzes, designs, codes, unit tests, configures & modifies software projects and/or products or enhancements using various programming languages, technologies & development methodologies.  Designs, develops, unit tests, debugs & implements application software and/or operating system components, software tools & utilities—conducts performance testing.  Document and maintain appropriate procedures that support the designated platform or system.  Executes documented processes on a quarterly basis to assist in Clinical quarterly knowledgebase releases.
Test Execution.  Executes QA tests (manual) and performs testing tasks along with team to ensure all requirements are satisfied.  Designs and creates data sets consistent with test specifications and test procedures. 
Project Team Responsibilities.  Participates in planning for all levels of project development and testing including usability, integration, system, performance, and user acceptance.  Key participant in core project meetings (e.g., release/project planning, planning/review/retrospective) as well as the creation of estimates, test plans, checklists and schedules to manage the release as appropriate.  Attends weekly stand-ups and communicates risks/impediments to project schedule or quality.  Ensures development and QA deliverables are on-time and meet quality goals.
Requirements traceability.  Participates in business and detailed functional requirements workgroups and design sessions.  Ensures appropriate feedback is provided to Requirements Management for development of requirements that are testable.  
Process Improvement.  Identifies opportunities for improving quality and efficiency and participates in process improvement initiatives.

  • Analyze complex problems using appropriate methods and techniques.  Apply good judgment when weighing options and assessing risk to propose solutions and drive issues to resolution.

  • Interact effectively with team members in and outside of KTST, Clinical department, and all levels of management.  
  • Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all levels throughout the organization. 
  • Ability to learn new technologies and platforms using self-directed techniques and training materials provided.  Can formulate and execute own exercises to master applications and prepare diagnostic questions to leverage time of subject matter experts. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to significant amounts of change in work assignments and priorities.


Minimum Requirements
4+ years of software development experience.


Critical Skills
  • Proficient knowledge and hands-on experience with Oracle relational databases, Oracle PL/SQL and .NET required. 
Additional Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience with Oracle Forms and Reports, ETL tools and JavaScript development strongly desired.
  • Understanding of XML and a history working with transaction processing systems desired.
  • Experience with JIRA Studio for defect and requirements management a plus.
  • Healthcare Payor operations related experience and claims processing/adjudication experience with an emphasis on vendor integration a positive.

4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
