Microsoft Research has led the design and development of many of the foundational platform security technologies we use today, including the Trusted Platform Module, secure and authenticated boot, and several of the newer processor isolation technologies. We are now leading a cross-industry initiative to provide foundational security technology to the next generation of IoT devices.
We are seeking researchers and engineers to help us with this mission. The work will include working with hardware partners and standards groups to develop hardware building blocks, as well as defining security protocols, and writing device and cloud-side system software.
Successful candidates will have experience in:
• Low-level systems architecture and programming
• Knowledge and experience of modern hardware security developments
• A practical understanding of common cryptographic algorithms and protocols
• Knowledge and expertise of modern cloud architectures and development
• Ph.D OR 3 years of experience in computer security or low-level systems programming.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in computer science, or comparable industry experience. Our team works closely with many Microsoft business groups, as well as the research community, governments and standards groups, so strong written and spoken communication skills are particularly important.
