Current Need

The Software Engineer role will work with the McKesson’s Evidence Based Case Rate Engine team. There are two major aspects to the job. The first is to develop ETL packages that transform client health care claims into a format consumable by the ECR engine. The second is helping to develop and enhance the ECR engine itself. In this position, you’ll need strong SQL, C#, and SSIS skills in addition to a great understanding of health care claims.




Position Description

  • Create ETL packages to transform health care claims data for ingestion into our ECR engine.
  • Enhance existing engine code and create new engines using C#.
  • Help to define and assess deliveries of healthcare claims data from our clients.
  • Understand the nuances of healthcare claims data.
  • Contribute to improving the process of running claims through the ECR engine.
  • Stay abreast of open tasks and help to groom backlogged tasks.
  • Work closely with the business and analysis teams to understand requirements and help produce software estimates.
  • Supervise code reviews and provide guidance to other developers.
  • Evaluate new technologies that may be helpful to the ECR engine.
  • Help to define testing strategies to assure the accuracy of ECR engine results.


 

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements
4+ years experience in software engineering

Critical Skills

Strong SQL and SSIS skills.

Deep healthcare claims knowledge.

Strong C# development experience.

Experience with big data technologies including PolyBase and Hadoop.

Experience with agile methodologies.

Exceptional troubleshooting skills to root cause complex issues.

Experience with cloud platforms, such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.

Fanatical devotion to producing consistent, accurate results through the ECR engine.



Additional Knowledge & Skills
Medium knowledge of both client and/or server side

Advanced knowledge of more than one language or operating system

May require medium to high knowledge of database skills (e.g., SQL)

Knowledge of cross-product dependencies

Knowledge of development methodologies

Deep understanding of application & coding tasks

Acquired business knowledge (e.g., how the business works, processes & operations)

Medium understanding of customer workflow & usage of McKesson products

Education
4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
