Software Engineer, Full-Stack

As a Capital One Software Engineer, you'll work on everything from customer-facing web and mobile applications using cutting-edge open source frameworks, to highly-available RESTful services, to back-end Java based systems using the hottest techniques in Big Data. You'll bring solid experience in emerging and traditional technologies such as: node.js, Java, AngularJS, React, Python, REST, JSON, XML, Ruby, HTML / HTML5, CSS, NoSQL databases, relational databases, Hadoop, Chef, Maven, iOS, Android, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure to name a few.

What you’ll do:

- Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios

- Continuously improve software engineering practices

- Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies

- Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions

- Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community

- Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-boxthinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity

Responsibilities: 

-     Design and develop continuous delivery pipelines (e.g. automate code builds and deployments)

-     Responsible for the day-to-day operations of all in-house developed systems, including commercial DevOps tooling owned by the team

-     Employ innovative solutions to shrink software development and testing cycles

-     Clearly communicate technical information to both developers and business stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

-     Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience

-     At least 3 years of experience providing enterprise Linux / Windows based system administration

-     At least 2 years of experience in AWS (ELB, EC2, S3, VPC, EBS, RDS, IAM, etc.); be able to also write CloudFormation scripts

-     At least 2 years of experience working with DevOps tools and Configuration Management/Orchestration technologies -- Docker, Chef

-     At least 2 years of experience in Build and CI/CD/CT technologies -- SVN, Git, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus

-     At least 1 year of experience configuring MEAN (MongoDB, ExpressJS, AngularJS, NodeJS) stack applications

-     At least 1 year of experience with scripting languages -- Bash, Ruby, Python

Preferred Qualifications:

-     3 + years of experience automating tasks including software deployments and auto-scaling AWS applications

-     3 + years of experience monitoring production systems to ensure availability and performance, with tools, such as Splunk, HPSM, CloudWatch, Zabbix

-     2 + years of experience with App servers, such as IIS , Weblogic and Tomcat

-     1 + year of experience with enterprise Linux-based and Windows systems administration

-     1 + year of experience with Agile methodologies, such as Scrum, SAFe and Kanban

-     1 + year of experience with Database technologies RDBMS, SQL, NO-SQL, RDS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB

-     Certified in AWS
