As we structure the company around a single strategy to create a unified family of devices and services, we have created the Windows and Windows Phone Customer Experience Engineering team within the Operating Systems Group. Through short cycle engineering, the charter of this team is to support device commercialization and timely improvements to our Windows and Windows Phone customers by consistently providing seamless updates that bring features and bug fixes that add value and improve quality.

Who are WE?
The Windows Servicing and Delivery (Windows WSD) Engineering development team develops and releases monthly, continuously improving the lives of over a billion customers on the Windows platform. The industry is rapidly evolving with a plethora of devices, competitors, form factors, and frequent releases. The Windows WSD team is on the leading edge of this evolution of the Windows business to more rapid feature and quality releases.

Our team is looking for Software Engineers to take the Windows business through this evolution. We are looking for passionate, energetic and collaborative developers interested in learning broadly across feature areas, solving complex problems, and regularly shipping software updates that directly improves customer experience, security, performance, and reliability of the Windows platform. In Apps team, we own Windows Communications apps, Windows Media Player, Windows Media Center, Windows Store and Desktop apps. We also own features in next version of Windows. You will have very vivid experience of working on a wide variety of products and have immense opportunity to learn lot of different technologies.

What’s EXPECTED of You?
Key Responsibilities:

∙ Reproducing and debugging customer-reported problems.
∙ Fixing externally found security vulnerabilities and all the variants you can find.
∙ Crafting high-quality fixes with a minimum app-compat risk.
∙ Prioritizing your work and delivering fixes in a timely fashion.
∙ Working with Escalation Engineers to test and verify your fixes in customer environment.
∙ Working with Product Group to get your fix integrated into the next version of OS.
∙ Finding ways to improve the product/tools/processes for long-term benefit.
∙ Working on Feature areas and servicing areas by working on both latest release and Servicing releases of Windows.

What makes you QUALIFY?

∙ BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
∙ Experience in developing test automation
∙ Proven software design, development and testing skills
∙ Experience in shipping or having your code/automation run in a production environment
∙ Familiarity with common Microsoft-centric development environments, including:
o Very strong C and/or C++ is a must. Experience with JavaScript, C#,
o WWA or Windows Store Apps is a plus (but not a requirement)
o .NET 2.0+ Framework
o Prior experience with Windows architecture, internals or the API is a plus.
o User/Kernel mode debugging

Basic Qualification:

∙ 3+ years in software development.
