Position Responsibilities for a Co-op • Conduct software development and test efforts in accordance with department Product Development Process (PDP) and satisfy the design controls specified in the FDA Quality System Regulations. Assure that deliverables adequately meet quality, safety, regulatory compliance, maintainability, and reliability standards. • Investigate and prototype new components and tools to improve development productivity and enhance testing effectiveness, under the guidance of senior engineers or scientists. • Collect and analyze software engineering metrics to provide input to software development process improvement, under the guidance of senior engineers or scientists. • Assist with the development of image reconstruction, data management, data communication, web services, and test software under the guidance of senior engineers or scientists. This includes supporting all aspects of software development including requirements analysis, specification, design, implementation, source control, unit testing, integration testing, validation, documentation, release, and ongoing support. What We Offer • Experience the pride of contributing to a product that can affect people around the world. • Experience the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering, design methodologies, design reviews (which the intern may lead, as well as participate in), design documentation, testing, to final release. • Gain experience with software quality engineering and data analysis. • Gain experience with some common programming languages such as C++, python (scripting), etc. • See how engineering fits in with other parts of the business in order to produce a complete product (e.g. marketing, regulatory, V&V, etc.) • Experience working under a controlled project procedure and in a regulated environment (FDA). • Get a first-hand look at Philips as an employer.
