According to unit and hospital policies and procedures, the Cardiology Sonographer II is responsible for the performance of non-invasive cardiovascular procedures including but not limited to adult/pediatric echocardiography and vascular procedures. This position works closely with other healthcare team members to facilitate exceptional patient care and efficient completion of diagnostic studies while also promoting optimal unit operations and acting as a preceptor. The Sonographer II adheres to the customer service standards while maintaining a clean, efficient, and safe work environment.
Knowledge and Skills:
Utilize open, professional communication (verbal, non-verbal, and written) to directly interact with physicians, patients, guests, and other health team members. Make decisions of moderate difficulty that reflect both knowledge and good judgment. Handle confidential information regarding patient activities. Demonstrate an effective working knowledge of all equipment used in Cardiology and related to their job functions. Achieve competency in performing 12-18 lead EKG's, rhythm strip, Signal Average EKG, pediatric EKG, holter application and removal, multi-stage stress test. Demonstrate competency in arrhythmia interpretation. Participate in budget control. Work with patients ranging in life span from infant to geriatric. Accepts shift work and participates in a rotating call schedule. Ability to demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of adult and pediatric echocardiography. Ability to achieve competency in performing arterial doppler studies. Demonstrate competency in phlebotomy. Must be able to demonstrate understanding of HCA's and St. David's "Patients First" safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures.
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of an accredited cardiac sonography program.
Required: One year minimum experience as a Sonographer I or equivalent work experience. Demonstrated proficiency in performing all aspects of adult/pediatric echocardiography and vascular procedures. Demonstrated ability to precept new employees and employees not meeting expectations.
Required: BLS (CPR) certification. Registry eligible
Preferred: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Vascular Technologist
