Sourcing Specialist  (R-10073726)

Strategic Sourcing Specialist is a sourcing position accountable for managing strategic sourcing projects for the procurement of goods and services in an assigned spend category or categories.  Categories can include telecom and data network services, hardware, software, IT services, human resources, professional services, finance, travel, marketing or facilities.  The Sourcing Specialist will be accountable for up to $5M in annual spend and is expected to have regular interaction with senior managers and cross functional stakeholders to deliver world class year-over-year TCO savings.  The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will report to the Director of Enterprise Sourcing Services.  The Sourcing Specialist will be expected to lead contract renewals negotiations, support major projects with sourcing managers, and coordinate projects with the sourcing Director for alignment with overall category strategy.


Collaborate with colleagues across multiple global business units in technology, finance and business roles in their assigned category(ies). Conduct market research and maintain a working knowledge of current business trends including industry changes, cost drivers, global pricing, market conditions and economic indicators in order to identify new and/or alternate sources of supply, as needed. Conduct ongoing benchmark reviews and perform complex financial analysis, projections and evaluations of supplier proposals for existing and new contracts. Influence and drive collaboration between cross-functional stakeholders for the development and execution of enterprise sourcing strategies and facilitation of strong partnerships between Fiserv and its suppliers. Act as a liaison between internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure compliance to sourcing and contracting policies and procedures. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and suppliers to identify cost savings opportunities. Own specific supplier relationships and ensure the ongoing management of performance, quality, cost, contractual commitments, etc. Initiate and/or participate in regular supplier business reviews that address supplier performance, technology roadmaps, business growth strategies and supply market changes. Prepare and give business reviews to senior management regarding sourcing and contracting progress and actions to close.  Successfully manage projects from cradle to grave in meeting project milestones and objectives. Ensure the effective communication of ESS strategy, service delivery model and services/supplier offerings. Drive compliance to and adoption of ESS policies and procedures; resolve areas of resistance.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance or Accounting.
  • MBA in Supply Chain Management, Finance or Business preferred

  • 3-5 years of business experience or equivalent experience and graduate education

  • Working knowledge of structured strategic sourcing process elements.
  • Sourcing, supplier management, project management, and/or finance experiences.  Examples include:
    • Indirect categories such as HR, travel, transportation, etc.
    • Direct categories such as commodities.
    • Networking, including voice, data, wireless, SIP, conferencing, VOIP, network equipment.
    • Telecommunication, including contract terms, tariffs, fixed and variable bandwidth based pricing schedules, minimum revenue commitments, and service level agreements for voice and data
    • IT Hardware, including personal computing, mid and high range servers, mainframes and security appliances.
    • IT Software, including complex enterprise agreements,
    • IT Services, including outsourced infrastructure, data center, application development and product assessment
  • Financial analysis, forecasting or consulting experience highly desirable
  • Project management experience for issue resolution is preferred (PMP a plus)
