Essential Function/Duties:
Technician duties:
(Majority of Duties) Performs complex medical imaging. Provides technical assistance for fluoroscopy, quality of radiation beam, filming sequence, etc. Operates diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast radiographs to aid physician in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. May assist physicians with procedures such as balloon/catheter placement and contrast media injections, etc. Closely monitors patient throughout procedure for adverse reactions. Provides education and training to other staff. Educator duties : Responsible for the quality and education of the VIR department. Responsible for the core education and regulatory programs that support the departmental staff, students and volunteers. Training and programs include departmental orientation programs, annual training, safety training, JCAHO, JCERT and other regulatory updates. Coordinates the department education programs with hospital/system education programs. Manages the department quality improvement initiatives and audits. Supports the Manager and Director in achieving quality processes developed with evidence based practices in healthcare management. Works with revenue integrity and IST to identify the information for education on proper billing codes and Image Management in the Radiology Information System. Identifies Quality Control opportunities to improve medical imaging services. Provides monthly trend reports to department management. Organizes the departmental policy and procedure manuals. Works in conjunction with the Radiology Clinical program.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of an approved school of radiologic technology.
*Experience: Five (5) years experience as a VIR Technician to include experience with healthcare information systems applications and performance improvement techniques.
*License: Registered with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography. Vascular-Interventional (VI) Radiography Certification preferred. BLS Healthcare Provider.
