This key individual is accountable to manage the resources responsible for the development, oversight, and execution of the Project Budget, Cost Forecast, Time Schedule, Safety, Construction, and Vertical Start-up of Major Capital Projects. It is incumbent on the Leader to assure that all projects follow the TPM Stage Gated Process and Standardized Work Practices established within the team. This position also is responsible for leading the front end project option analysis on major rebuilds, and cold repair projects.
Typical Capital Projects support both growth and productivity programs as well as routine factory rebuild related programs.

Reports to: The position reports to the Director CSB Capital Delivery.
Span of Control: The Primary Scope of the Job involves leading and engaging a team of Project Managers, Project Support Engineers, Construction Safety Leader, and Construction Management Professionals in the flawless execution of Major Capital Delivery Projects for the Composites Systems Business (CSB).

Developing and Executing Capital Project Safety
In partnership with the SHE Pillar, develop and execute a strategy to further insure safety in designs and safety during construction of projects in a proactive methodology designed to ensure loss elimination. Provide the atmosphere and training to implement new cutting edge safety techniques to the current Capital Delivery Toolbox.
Project Delivery
Develop strategies and metrics for Capital Project Delivery from Concept to Closing utilizing well developed processes and standardized work practices. The strategy must include relevant Best Practice information throughout the project at the appropriate stages. Collaborate and engage the appropriate pillar teams and activities responsible and accountable for delivery of Composites major capital projects and possible support of other divisions.
Process Improvement and learning
Analyze loss over the course of the project and ensure that lessons learned are captured and included in the project and stage gate process to ensure loss elimination and best practice integration in future projects. Ensure a collaborative approach with appropriate pillar team involvement and shared learning.
Leading and Developing Talent
Be Accountable for the development and alignment of all team roles and responsibilities. The leader ensures that those roles and responsibilities are documented and articulated to each team member, modified as required, and accomplished throughout the year. Discusses growth and development plans with the employee to ensure project roles / accountabilities support the individuals resource growth. Provide action and talent improvement opportunities on an individual basis identifying gaps and training opportunities. The Leader actively plans for both self and group succession. Provides clear feedback - both routine feedback (adhoc discussions based on project activities) and formal feedback (quarterly reviews related to growth and development plans)
Recommends and supports project-specific mentoring relationships for growth areas and helps to secure the commitment of the mentor / expert. Provide action and talent improvement opportunities on an individual basis identifying gaps and upskilling opportunities.

  • 7-10 years Engineering leadership experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Complex, technical project leadership
  • Initiates innovative solutions, embracing change and challenging the status quo
  • Proven ability to develop and drive Project Management group focus and critical factors to attain short and long-term goals and aspirations
  • Demonstrated track record of driving results in difficult situations and implements strategies in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Technically up to date and able to teach and mentor CSB personnel, customers and policy makers to the achievability and value
  • Proven ability to proactively diffuse tense situations and address differences of opinion, priority, culture and goals
  • Impactful decision making skills ensure successful decision making skills with limited information
