Evaluates, treats and educates patients for rehabilitation of speech, language, cognitive, swallowing, oral motor, and voice disorders and foreign accents.
Education: Masters degree in Speech-Language Hearing Pathology.
Licensure: Current licensure for the practice of Speech/Language Pathology in the State of VA.
Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association. BLS required.
Experience: 3-4 years experience in evaluation and treatment of patients with neurological disorders/diseases, (i.e., VCA, multiple sclerosis, ALS). Experience should include clinical competence with aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, R hemisphere cognitive communication disorders. 2 years experience with evaluation and treatment of patients with cognitive disorder secondary to traumatic brain injury. 2-3 years experience with evaluating and treating patients with dysphagia to include experience conducting videofluorscopic evaluation with Radiology Department and determine feeding and treatment recommendations. 3 years experience with patients with functional voice disorders, laryngectomy. 1 year experience with patients and fluency disorders.
