The role reports to the Global Trade Compliance NA Director, and is responsible for making key decisions on complex import and or export and dangerous goods compliance activities, provides input into the strategic decisions of the function, primarily focused on compliance across all business lines while maintains greater accountability for coaching and mentoring team members. This position will also assist in large complex cross functional projects and viewed as key team member regarding import or export and dangerous goods regulations.
-Develop and enhance Dell’s import-export and dangerous goods processes and standard operating procedures to assure they are compliant, efficient and timely
-Lead and/or participate on project teams to support trade and supply chain initiatives
-Serve as a point of contact for regulatory inquiries internally and externally. Develop communication network to receive and issue timely information on trade regulations impacting Dell’s business units across the region;
-Work with internal stakeholders to identify products requiring export licenses, and products subject to DG requirements and work to ensure their sale and shipment is done compliantly
-Research, prepare and update Country profiles and other compliance documents in relation to import/export requirements;
-Coordinate with GTC team to prepare and manage license activity and disclosures if required, support and confirm classification decisions and act as point of escalation to resolve shipment holds or other issues to facilitate the release of goods subject or restricted by regulatory requirements, creating a go forward strategy which can also be applied as necessary to other business units;
-Provide input to help improve the relationship, overall service capabilities, and activities of the GTC team;
-Implement and maintain Service Provider SOW’s, managing KPI’s and overall network relationships, to include performance, quarterly reviews, and scorecard reports.
-Provide stakeholder training as required on relevant trade and DG areas
-Function as a change agent, supporting company goals and objectives with peers and other departments and work on special projects and assignments as needed.
-BS/BA degree or equivalent experience required a 8-10 years import, export and DG compliance experience with international responsibilities.
-Strong interpersonal skills
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Experience in presenting complex information and influencing decisions
-Advanced knowledge of export and dangerous goods requirements including IATA, EAR, ITAR, OFAC, etc.
-Advanced understanding of export controls, screening processes, tools and HAZMAT
-Experience exporting electronics internationally, and trade compliance regimes of multiple countries.
-Experience in conducting and facilitating internal and external compliance audits and liaising with trade agencies
-Ability to organize, prioritize and work independently on multiple tasks
-Advanced degree a plus
-Professional certifications (e.g. Certified US Export Compliance Officer) a plus
-Customs broker license a plus
-Fluency in other languages a plus
-Experience with SNAP-R filings preferred
