Amgen is searching for a Senior Associate for our Global Accounting team. This role will be based in Thousand Oaks, California and is a key part of the Finance organization. This role will report to the Global Accounting Director supporting Intercontinental Region. This team is responsible for managing the accounting close process, financial statement preparation and internal control monitoring for the Intercontinental Region which spans countries in Latin America, Canada, Turkey, Middle East and Africa. This is a very dynamic region with markets that have very different economic and political environments in which Amgen wants to continue expanding its business.
Coordination and monitoring of the overall accounting close for Intercontinental HQ and Latin America Distributors. Provide guidance on the application of policies and procedures and US GAAP treatment for transactions being executed by regional finance teams. Serve as liaison for the different Global Accounting functional teams to ensure appropriate service is provided and issues are resolved. Ensure that the process of Account reconciliations and Balance sheet reviews is completed and variance analysis are provided to Corporate Accounting as required. Manage and coordinate activities with Outsourcing vendor in India (or any other location that might be selected).
Provide oversight, guidance and monitoring of Internal Control processes that apply to the HQ processes supported.
Support coordination of activities and reporting for the regional accounting team.
Basic Qualifications
Master's degree
OR
Bachelor's degree AND 2 years of Accounting or Finance experience
OR
Associates degree AND 6 years Accounting or Finance experience
OR
High School diploma/GED AND 8 years Accounting or Finance experience
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree
3+ years relevant experience in Accounting functions
Intermediate Excel / PowerPoint skills
Experience with ERP systems (preferably SAP)
Strong quantitative and analytical skills including familiarity with finance and accounting terms
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to communicate and collaborate cross-functionally in an organization
Detailed oriented and highly motivated
Proven ability to work effectively in in ambiguous situations and team environment
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently under time
