Sr. Associate, Treasury Operations

The Securities Operations team within the Capital Markets Operations group in Corporate Treasury is responsible for the trade confirmation, settlement and servicing activities associated with the life cycle events of security purchases and sales within the Investment Portfolio held by Corporate Treasury. The Investment Portfolio Management team manages an investment portfolio of fixed and floating-rate assets purchased on behalf of Capital One Financial Corporation and the corporation’s banking entities. The Securities Operations team is also responsible for ensuring that key SOX and management controls around the trade confirmations are fulfilled. Daily, monthly and quarterly reporting obligations also reside on the team. Additionally, the team also coordinates the discussions around internal operational elements on new products and activities amongst relevant stakeholder teams such as Investment Portfolio Management, Cash Management, and Accounting. Lastly, cross-training amongst other Capital Markets Operations groups welll be required as coverage needs change.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·Ensure the integrity of Capital One’s treasury trading positions through accurate trade capture, confirmation, and record retention of the trade attributes on trade date

·Ensure the timely and accurate settlement of security transactions

·Maintain up-to-date controls and procedures that align with the demands of the fast pace and ever changing environment

·Investigate and resolve trade and position breaks independently in the event a discrepancy is identified

·Be able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment while simultaneously being able to independently run ad-hoc projects in addition to daily current tasks and responsibilities (under supervision)

·Develop and maintain productive relationships with key internal and external partners

·Investigate cash outages related to the fixed income securities portfolio (P&I, shortfalls, etc.)

·Take the initiative and be comfortable recommending and implementing process changes to improve operational efficiencies

·The desired job candidate for this position should be inquisitive and enjoy problem solving

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
- At least 2 years of financial services experience
- Expert in MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or Bachelor’s degree in Economics
- 3+ years of experience in Capital Markets Operations
- 2+ years of product knowledge for fixed income securities experience
- 1+ year of working with compliance and risk management teams
