Small Business Card Business Underwriting
Capital One’s Small Business Credit Card business is the fastest growing in the industry, fueled by providing payment and cash management products for successful and highly qualified small businesses. As our customer base grows and business expands, we are looking for a Senior Manager, Business Analyst to develop business underwriting and risk management strategies for our Small Business card portfolio. We are looking for candidates with Commercial and/or Small Business underwriting and credit risk management expertise to lead and team with world-class professionals to develop, test, and implement strategies that drive the continued growth and evolution of our Small Business portfolio. You'll do it all in a collaborative environment that values your insight, encourages you to take on new responsibility, promotes continuous learning, and rewards innovation.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
o Strategic leadership: Develop business strategies that will drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One’s Small Business Card portfolio. The candidate should possess strong communication and influencing skills to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment.
o Product Development & Credit Risk: Drive resilient growth by performing quantitative and qualitative analysis to develop underwriting strategies for businesses across a wide range of industries seeking mid-market credit lines. Effectively manage credit risk through underwriting principles, product design, portfolio analysis and line management strategies.
o Leadership: May manage and develop a team of analysts. Coaching and mentoring associates throughout the organization with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital One, including developing business lending acumen of analysts and underwriters
o Partnership: Work closely with colleagues across the enterprise, including Sales, Finance, Underwriting Operations, Collections, Credit Risk Management, and IT to develop resilient growth strategies that are well-managed and impact the bottom line. The candidate should foster innovation, drive critical decisions, hold business partners accountable, and be able to consistently deliver results.
o Execution: Coordinate across the line of business to manage and sequence delivery of business intent, build business requirements and execute against the product strategy. Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently.
Successful Candidate Profile:
o Strategic & analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation, given that a large part of the business is based on rigorous analytic marketing & credit risk management.
o Leadership & Partnership: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving, and ability to partner with high performing teams.
o Strong executive communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills
o Self Driven: Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 1 year of experience in Small Business Underwriting or at least 1 year of experience in Commercial Underwriting
- At least 2 years of experience in quantitative analysis
- At least 2 years of experience in qualitative analysis
- At least 1 year of experience in people management
- Masters of Business Administration
- 1+ year of experience in people management
- 5+ years of experience in quantitative analysis
- 5+ years of experience in qualitative analysis
- 2+ years of experience in product development
