This position is will play a key role on the newly created Claims Innovation Group. The person in this this position will focus on Innovation Intelligence, Research External Technology. S/he will:
+ Implement innovative solutions in partnership with various Claims teams
+ Conduct broad research of competitors (Claims), insurance, financial, other industries, internally with IT, Product, Marketing, Digital.
+ Provide Innovation Intelligence report.
+ Generate business leads for innovation work.
+ Develop test track environment in coordination with Claims, testing, validating, proof of concept.
+ Report to Innovation VP.
The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset, strong analytical skills, and will be network connected. Insurance knowledge helpful; external view and experienced desired.
JOB SUMMARY: Manages projects to achieve desired business objectives. Identifies and develops business process mapping with regard to data quality/integrity. Recommends, implements and manages policies and procedures for existing and new business processes. Manages business administration functions that support the business needs of the area.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to: Manager/Director
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Maintains high-level knowledge of competitive markets where the company operates. Utilizes this knowledge to guide the creation of state/market-specific reports to aid business partners with strategic decisions. May make market or product-specific recommendations and/or provide supplemental analysis on business development opportunities.
+ Monitors and communicates industry and product trends. Makes recommendations to business partners as necessary.
+ Leads the production of competitive intelligence reporting which is utilized by business partners to determine market competitiveness, target markets, and target segments. Ensures timely and accurate delivery.
+ Manages relationships with key stakeholders to identify needs. Leads the development and implementation of updated and new competitive intelligence tools, processes, and reports.
+ Leads ad-hoc reporting and special projects requested by business partners (i.e. GLM, eGLM, segmentation analysis, etc.). Provides leadership on organizational competitive intelligence needs.
+ Responsible for timely and relevant communication to executives, and business partners. Makes strategic, project, staffing, technology, and budgetary recommendations to senior management.
+ Maintains the Competitive Intelligence strategy for the NI, Allied and Titan brands; integrates & encourages Competitive Intelligence principles across company, ensuring its place as a core competency.
+ Develops and maintains a professional relationship with all business partners and vendors. Is a constant ambassador of Competitive Intelligence, always striving to provide excellent service to meet the needs of customers. Seeks out new relationships as necessary.
+ May lead Competitive Intelligence Technology and/or comparative rating technology and hardware. Leads the continued improvement of Competitive Intelligence's technology footprint through technology market research and frequent contact with relevant vendors.
+ Makes presentations to various audiences, including business partners, executives, and corporate affiliates. Seeks out opportunities to share Competitive Intelligence strategy, developments, tools, and output.
+ Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education-Bachelor's degree (preferred) in actuarial science, computer science, business, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, management information systems or related field with a strong quantitative orientation. SAS certification a plus. Insurance licenses or designations such as CPCU, ARM, CLU, ChFC, FLMI, CFP, NASD, etc. are also a plus.
Knowledge-Extensive, solid knowledge of mathematics, statistics, probability, and/or principles of finance or insurance, proven analytical skills and proven knowledge of insurance products and terminology as well as competitive landscape in area of assignment. Proven knowledge of insurance concepts and our specific markets (distribution channels, states, etc.). Leadership ability preferred.
Experience-Minimum ten years experience in a business unit (e.g., pricing, actuarial, product) or combined experience and educational equivalent.
Skills-Demonstrated work product accuracy and timeliness. Effective verbal/written communication skills; Demonstrated ability to comprehend and analyze competitive intelligence data; Demonstrated ability to think logically and make observations or recommendations to business partners based on data. Ability to effectively operate a personal computer and database software, which may include SAS, SQL, or other applications.
