**Job Description:**

This position is part of the Virtustream Cloud Security Managed Services team which is responsible for supporting client security in a complex multi-service, multi-cloud environment. Virtustream Security Consultants are expected to always think and act in a proactive manner with our customer's interests in mind. They should be seeking to drive resolution of security issues and identify areas for improvement or automation. As the face of the organization to the customer, prior consulting experience and ability to interface at the C-suite level is critical.

Security consultants will oversee on-boarding, development, implementation, execution and continued support of security projects and assignments within the largest customers in the Virtustream portfolio. The ability to prioritize project work while mentoring junior staff and handling escalations when necessary. The candidate will work in a dynamic, growing organization that is currently building and operating multiple complex environments.

**Principle Duties and Responsibilities**

+ Forge critical relationships with CIO, CISO and CTO level staff at Virtustream’s largest customers + Develop working level knowledge of the customer’s IT environment + Act as a single point of contact on security related issues + Provide support for Information Security requests: Review security policy clarifications and exception requests; lead Security projects; triage general security questions from other internal teams. + Tune, monitor and analyze network traffic and respond to IDS alerts

+ Analyze network and host-based security logs to identify potential security threats.

+ Participate in incident response and triage

+ Participate in an on call rotation including after hours and weekends to support critical security issues.

+ Drive down mean time to resolution for all Security work.

+ Continuously create and review documentation for Security Operations procedures. + Work with the GRC team to develop the policies, standards and procedures related to Security Management.

**Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience**

+ Industry Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, GCIA, GCIH, etc.

+ 10+ years of experience with different aspects of Information Security including knowledge of network, web and platform technologies and secure application development methods. + Ability to obtain required government clearances + Extensive knowledge of the Linux operating system + Strong understanding of TCP/IP protocol + Experience scripting and software automation (Python, Perl, Ruby) + Experience with some of the following types of technologies: + SIEM (Splunk, Arcsight, QRadar, etc) + Firewalls, both network and host based + Application or web content filtering + IDS/IPS + File Integrity Monitoring

**Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience**

+ College degree with an engineering, IT or Security focus

+ Experience with some of the following technologies is highly desirable: + VMWare products + RSA Security Analytics + Tripwire + Suricata, Snort, Security Onion + ELK (Logstash/ Kibana / Elastisearch) + SALT + Ansible + Docker + OpenStack

+ 5+ years of experience in either a system or network administrator role


+ Strong verbal and written communication skills + Customer organizational acumen + Ability to address complex security issues in business language + Self-motivated + Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment + Ability to work effectively with a broad range of personalities and people + Flexible, Dependable and Self-motivated + Willingness to learn new skills from senior peers + Willingness to coach and mentor junior peers
